What it means to be a Presbyterian at Moorings

Who We Are

The Presbyterian Church USA, with denominational offices in Louisville, Kentucky, has approximately 2.3 million members, more than 10,000 congregations and 14,000 ordained and active ministers. Its congregations are organized into 173 presbyteries (district governing bodies) and 16 synods (regional governing bodies.)

We are one of the 38 churches in the Peace River Presbytery in North Port, Florida, which in turn belongs to the South Atlantic Synod.

How to Join Moorings Presbyterian Church

New members may unite with the Presbyterian Church USA by these methods:

1.  Certificate of Transfer – If you were an active member of another church
2.  Reaffirmation of Faith – If you were baptized but not active in church
3.  Profession of Faith – If you were never baptized, or, were baptized but never confirmed
4.  Affiliate Membership – If you maintain a regular membership ‘up north’

Several times a year, Member Orientation meetings are held for persons wishing to explore the possibility of joining Moorings Presbyterian Church.  These gatherings will provide background information on PCUSA in general and MPC in particular.  These meetings will help prospective members learn about MPC and about the expectations of our church membership.  It also will help each individual find his or her place within our MPC community.

Each person will discover that there are many programs and activities for people of all ages – members and non-members alike.  You are cordially invited to visit us and discover the joy of belonging to a friendly church that cares about you.
