Summer Worship Schedule 9AM: Informal, Contemporary Worship Service in Webster Chapel. 10AM: Traditional Worship Services in the Sanctuary. 10:10AM: Children and Youth Sunday school (Children are invited to worship with their families at the 10AM worship service and are dismissed to their Sunday School classrooms after the Word for the Children, approximately 10:10: Pre-K through 1st grade-room 105, 2-5 grade-room 201, Nursery available 8:45-11:15 AM-room 103) Reverend Chuck Cary-Update! ReverendChuck Cary requested that we include the following announcement in Moorings’ publications and communications: Former pastor Chuck Cary has been approved as a candidate for the position of pastor of the Westhampton Presbyterian Church, Westhampton Beach, New York and will preach his candidacy sermon there on Sunday, September 12. His starting date is scheduled for October 1, 2010. He and Millie remain grateful for the support of the good people of the Moorings. Please Pick Up Your Pictorial Directories! If you had a picture taken or submitted for the directory, you will find your complimentary directory grouped alphabetically in the Narthex. If you did not have a picture taken but would like a copy, please call Jana (213-5233) and you can receive a directory for $5. New Orleans Work Trip Underway This Weekend! A team of volunteers departs early Sunday morning for New Orleans, where they will spend a week rebuilding hurricane damaged homes with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. Participating are Rev. Jim Kirk, Robin Doyle, David Granfield, Mary Beth Schultheis, and Paul and Francie Stephan from Moorings; Lita Laukemper and Nancy Whitman from First Presbyterian of Fort Myers; Laura Marzano and Alex Shreve from Vanderbilt Presbyterian. Please keep these volunteers in your prayers as they travel to New Orleans and put their faith into action. Volunteers Needed! Volunteers are needed in Volusia County, Florida to do roofing work with VIND (Volusia Interfaiths/Interagencies Networking in Disaster). They have seven homes that were damaged in the May 2009 storms that currently need roofs, and more homes in the permitting process. VIND has a Rebuilding Coordinator on staff to help with supervision. Minimum age is 18 due to the nature of roofing work. Volunteer housing is available. Please contact Dave Troxler at VIND at pastordave3@aol.com for more information or to schedule a work trip. Exercise Classes At Moorings Pilates meets on Mondays at 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM on Thursdays. Classes are $8 per class with 8 participants. Individuals can choose to participate one or two days. Call Martha at 213-5244 if you are interested in getting involved. Ongoing Collections The Mission Committee continues the ongoing food collection. Summer donations benefit St. Matthews House. Their food pantry is in need of instant potatoes, dry cereal, canned meat, powdered milk, peanut butter and macaroni and cheese. You may place your donations in the three large bins behind the reception desk in Moss Hall. There is also a collection basket in the Narthex for your convenience. Thanks to all who have donated for this ongoing drive. Together, we can make a difference. Summer Choir Summer Choir welcomes singers of high school age and older who may join Sunday by Sunday during this time of the year when Wednesday rehearsals are suspended. Please meet any Sunday in the Music Center at 9:15 AM as we prepare the anthem of the day and look ahead to the coming week . Now is the time to give choir a try and serve God with your singing! Please phone Dick Crofts for more information (213-5246). Cedarkirk Camp and Conference Center Cedarkirk Camp and Conference Center is open for camp registration. Featured are programs for all ages and stages of life, offering opportunities for fun, bonding, and spiritual growth.
