Current Worship Schedule

9AM: Casual Worship Service in Webster Chapel. 10AM: Traditional Worship Service in the Sanctuary. 10AM: Children Sunday school (Children begin their Sunday experience in the Sanctuary with their families at 10AM, and following the Time for Children are escorted to their classrooms by their teachers, where they should be picked up following the service: Nursery (2 and under)-Room 103 &104, 3 & 4 year olds and Kindergarten-Room 105, 1st & 2nd Grade-Room 204, 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade-Room 203). Join us in Moss Hall immediately following the 10 AM Service for fellowship - visitors are cordially invited.

Annual Meeting and Distinguished Speaker Series -
Sunday, February 5

Annual Meeting: 11 AM, followed by lunch and Distinguished Speaker author Karl Weber speaking on Muhammad Yunus and the Economics of Peace.   Please sign-up for the luncheon (donations accepted) at the Reception Desk or call 261-1487.

Souper Bowl for Hunger

Our Youth are collecting donations in their “soup” pots after the services for those who are hungry and hurting.  Please support our Youth in this effort.

Return of the "Book Review"

Wednesday, February 8 at 10 AM in the south end of Moss Hall.   Dee Dee Jeffries reviews Unbroken. In evocative descriptions, author Laura Hillenbrand unfurls this non-fiction story of Louie Zamperini, a juvenile delinquent/Olympic runner/Army hero and World War II Japanese prisoner of war.  “It is a testament to the resilience of the human mind, body and spirit."  Laura Hillenbrand is also the author of "Seabiscuit."  All are invited to join us.

Special Class Offering

Special Class Offering begins Thursday, February 9, 1:30-2:30 in the Chapel.  Expressive Hymn Singing is vibrant, aware, and inspired. Develop a clearer understanding of the text and the musical intent of each hymn. Improve Your lung capacity through breathing exercises and learn how to improve Your expressive musicianship. In essence, love the Lord through singing with deeper emotion, devotion, and physical strength. At the invitation of Dick Crofts, this class is taught by Joseph Brachmann, Founder and Director of Song Masters (Milwaukee). Valentines Day "Daddy Daughter" Dance

Friday, February 10, 6:30-8:30 PM in Moss Hall.  Dancing, Complimentary Refreshments, one Corsage and one Boutonniere. Additional corsages $2.50. Advance tickets available through February 6 at the Receptionist Desk, $15 per dad (daughters are free).  Tickets at the door: $20. All fathers and daughters welcome.  All proceeds to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

Hospital Visitation Ministry

We need people to visit (along with our ministers) our church members and friends in the hospital.  Jim Kirk will offer a six week training opportunity.  The initial meeting will be Sunday, February 12 from 8:45-9:45 AM in Classroom A (upstairs in Moss Hall).  The group will determine the best meeting time.

Annual Valentine Brunch

Sunday, February 12, 11:30 AM in Moss Hall.  EVERYONE is invited (sponsored by the Fellowship Committee).  A seated brunch will be served with entertainment provided by our own Lesly and Don Hale (Cahlua and Cream).  Please make Your reservation by Wednesday, February 8 ($15 per person) payable to Moorings Presbyterian Church, marked Valentine Brunch. Presbyterian Women's Gathering

Tuesday, February 14.  Gathering Time: 11:30 AM; Meeting Begins Promptly at 11:45 AM. (The Coordinating Team meets this day at 10 AM in Classroom B.)  Our program, ‘Power through Knowledge’ is presented by Myra Williams, the Community Liaison for VITAS, an innovative program for hospice care.  Dr. Richard Fife, President of VITAS, will also be in attendance (see www.vitas.com).  The opening program features Carrie Beynon, soprano, accompanied by Martha Crofts, and the ‘Moment for Mission’ will highlight the ‘Least Coin’ program (Nancy Lazear).    A delicious luncheon follows (Elizabeth Circle), $7 at the door.  Childcare is available upon request.  Please sign up at the Reception Desk or call 261-1487 before Sunday, February 12.

Bereavement Support Group

Bereavement Support Group meets on Wednesday February 15, in the Parlor from 1:00 – 2:00 PM.  Lea Leonard leads class on February 15.  Anyone who has experienced loss of any kind is encouraged to attend.  Contact Jim Kirk (213-5226) or jkirk@moorings-presby.org. for information.

Campfire at Camp Cocahatchee

Join the Family Ministries Committee for an evening of songs, stories and s’mores around the campfire at Camp Cocahatchee on Friday, February 17 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.  The camp is located on Center Lane (north  on 41 to Wiggins Pass Road, turning west (just after the Germain dealership); take the 1st left off Wiggins Pass Rd, go one block and turn left again.  You will be on Center Lane.  The camp is at the end of the street.   Call Martha at 213-5244 to say you’ll meet us there.

Treks 'n Tours Excursions

Thursday, February 23, Babcock Wilderness Adventures, Lunch at Alva Country Diner (each person pays for their own lunch), and Wine Tasting at Eden Vineyards Winery.  Leave church at 8:00 AM.  Return 5:00 PM.  Cost:  $35 (includes Babcock, wine tasting, and one bottle of wine). Deadline to pay and register: Thursday, February 16.  All Treks must be pre-paid by the deadline date.  You must either call 261-1487 or sign up at the Reception Desk.  You may leave a check made payable to: Barbara Coen at the church Reception Desk or mail to Barbara:  2780  68th Street S.W., Naples, FL 34105.  Questions: Call Carol Cheney (353-3348).  All trips limited to 25 people.

Spring Fling! It's Time to Sign Up...

and spring into step for our Annual Spring Fling Block Party Saturday, March 3 from 3 to 6 PM.  We are hoping for lots of volunteers and bakers to help us offer a big dose of Moorings hospitality.  Sign-up sheets are available at the Reception Desk.    If You would like to help with funding, please leave a message for Martha Crofts (213-5244).

Care Giver Symposium

Wednesday, March 7,     9:30 AM - 3:00 PM. The keynote speaker, Dr. Stephen Sapp, University of Miami, will discuss "Aging and Spirituality." See Workshops in the February Moorings Line. This Symposium will be valuable to everyone.  We all may be caregivers in the future, if not now.  Reservations appreciated but not required.  Call 239-261-1487. Food Collection for February

During the month of February, dontations support Helps Outreach. Their food pantry is in need of peanut butter and jelly, Hamburger Helper, Chicken Helper, Tuna Helper, macaroni and cheese, tuna, canned ham, chicken, roast beef, soups (all kinds), beans (all kinds), rice (family size bags), pasta and pasta sauces, canned fruit and vegetables, canned milk, baby food and diapers. Donations can be dropped off each Sunday in the white wicker trunks in the Narthex, or in the large bins behind the Moss Hall reception desk.
